Step Into Leadership: Volunteer Opportunities with the IPA
The Illinois Paralegal Association continues to thrive because of the dedication, expertise, and generosity of its members. As we look ahead to the IPA Board of Directors Elections this April, we invite you to consider becoming more involved by serving in a leadership role.
Following the election, a new President will be selected by the Board to serve a one-year term. One of the President’s first responsibilities is appointing Committee Chairs for the coming year. Serving as a Committee Chair is an excellent way to contribute to the profession, expand your network, and play a meaningful role in shaping IPA programming and initiatives.
Committee Chairs for Specialty Areas of Law help guide the development of educational content by identifying timely topics and connecting with potential speakers for IPA Education Conferences. Chairs also facilitate Section Meetings throughout the year. These gatherings are intentionally flexible and may range from a brief virtual lunch-hour check-in to an in-person lunch-and-learn session. The structure and format are designed to support both the Chair’s vision and the needs of section members.
While Committee Chairs are encouraged to attend the online Board of Directors meetings, participation is not required. Those who do attend often find it valuable, gaining insight into the Board’s priorities, strategic goals, and the broader direction of the Association.
At this time, the following Committee Chair roles are available:
- Bankruptcy
- In-House Paralegals
- Commercial Finance
- Corporate
- Elder Law
- Estates & Trusts
- Immigration
- In-House Paralegals
- Real Estate
In addition, Co-Chairs are welcome for any committee, and members are always encouraged to join standing committees. A list of Committees can be found on the website.
Volunteering with the Illinois Paralegal Association is more than service — it is an opportunity to collaborate with peers, develop professionally, and help strengthen the paralegal community across Illinois.
If you are interested in serving as a Committee Chair, Committee Co-Chair, or Committee Member, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please reach out via email for more information.
We look forward to your involvement.
Sincerely,
Yvonne Kriss
IPA Executive Director
