So Much to be Thankful For!
Many recently celebrated National Paralegal Day on October 23, as they have in year’s past. The IPA marked the day by hosting our 2nd Annual State of the Paralegal Profession webinar. We were honored to have Michael Houlberg, Director of Special Projects for IAALS, and Nitasha Miller, an Arizona Legal Paraprofessional, join us. Michael enlightened us on the status of paralegal regulation across the country. Nitasha intrigued us with her journey to paralegal licensure and her current role as a legal paraprofessional. Thanks to both of them for their time and thanks to all who participated.
Through the collaborative efforts of AAfPE, NALA, NALS and NFPA, going forward, National Paralegal Day will be recognized on August 6, as documented in the Congressional Record. The date is significant because it was on August 6, 1968, that the American Bar Association established the first committee on paralegals. Congratulations to AAfPE, NALA, NALS and NFPA on their joint efforts! The IPA is excited to continue focusing on the advancements of the paralegal profession and we hope to do so with our 3rd Annual State of the Paralegal Profession event August 6, 2025! We hope you’ll join us.
For those who have been IPA members for the past few years, you’ve likely acquainted yourself with the IPA’s meetings and discussion forums through IPA Connect/Tradewing. As 2024 comes to an end, so will our partnership with IPA Connect/Tradewing. We’re thankful for the community we’ve built over the last few years but the IPA will embark on a journey to seek a new partner that offers the IPA and its members functionality that provides a collaborative, flexible environment so we can continue to host educational and social events to connect paralegals throughout the state of Illinois. Until then, discussion forums will be available at the IPA’s website (ipaonline.org) and meetings will be hosted through Zoom. We look forward to continued conversations and connections through our website, LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook.
