Electronic Evidence Locker Workshop Presented by Larry Lieb, CCPA, HaystackID We recognize that not all cases have the stature or budget to engage forensic experts. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t anything that needs to be collected. On the contrary, ESI is pervasive in most litigation or investigation matters regardless of budget. In matters where the expense (or for whatever other reason) precludes using a third-party to collect, litigants and respondents are typically trying to perform self-collection – with varying levels of success, failure and organizational risk. The object of this workshop is to train legal staff to perform defensible forensic collections when the conditions are favorable and/or aligned to do so. Since data is going to be collected anyway by someone someway, it might as well be done correctly, defensibly and accurately. We will walk students through all the basics and provide them instruction in using FTK Imager Lite, a good tool for small, low-risk collections. Attendees will receive a copy of the software, the evidence mapping template and other supporting documentation upon completion of this workshop.
